Extensible Metadata Platform

This was Adobe's idea for including metadata, or code, inside a document. It was originally included in HTML as a sort of preformatted text box, where all white space, line breaks, and HTML characters including < and > would be displayed as-is.

This element has been deprecated in HTML 4.01. This element only exists for backwards-compatibility in HTML 4.01 documents and should not be used in the creation of documents. Whenever possible, convert any existing XMB elements to a combination of <pre> and/or <code> elements.
This element is no longer supported in HTML 5. This element has been completely removed from specifications and should never be used in HTML 5 documents. Use a combination of <pre> and/or <code> elements to achieve a similar effect.
